So that you can cook all the recipes you fancy, whether for a gas barbecue or for cooking outdoors during your trips, road trips, and camping stays. :)
What are the differences between the 3 barbecue / stove models from the Cadac brand?
|
There are 3 models of the Safari Chef barbecue stove:
-
Safari Chef “HP” (High Pressure) works directly with an EN417 screw-on gas cartridge. The gas cartridge screws into the bottom of the barbecue. This barbecue has retractable legs to minimize the space in the storage bag and in your vehicle.
-
Safari Chef “LP” (Low Pressure) works with a regulator and pressure regulator on a gas bottle. This barbecue has retractable legs to minimize the space in the storage bag and in your vehicle.
-
Safari Chef Compact works directly with a clip-on gas cartridge. The cartridge clips into the side, in its dedicated compartment. This barbecue does not have retractable legs and therefore sits directly on the table or on the ground.
What differentiates the “Combo” version gas barbecues from the “Deluxe" version?
|
The "Lite" and "Standard" barbecues differ by the number of cooking plates included in the package.
-
The “Combo” version contains 3 cooking surfaces: Grill, stove, and wok.
-
The “Deluxe” version contains 4 cooking surfaces: Grill, stove, wok AND plancha.
The Safari Chef barbecue stove offers 5 cooking modes:

-
The ribbed plate or grill of the barbecue will allow you to grill directly on your stove meat, fish, vegetables, etc.
-
The smooth plate or plancha (optional) of the barbecue will allow you to cook directly on your stove crepes, pancakes, eggs, bacon, vegetables, etc. This plate is very practical because it replaces pans.
-
The mode wok can be used thanks to the lid of the barbecue. You will just need to turn the lid upside down to put your food inside and use it as a wok. The enamel coating prevents food from sticking. Our little tip: use wooden or silicone utensils so as not to scratch your lid.
-
The mode stove can be used if you remove all the included equipment such as the lid, the grill, or the plancha. You can thus use the provided base to cook your favorite recipes. You can choose to remove the drip tray or leave it when it is windy. It will serve as a windbreak and protect the flames from drafts.
-
The pizza stone (optional) with a diameter of 25cm or 30cm will allow you to enjoy good homemade pizzas, cook bread, focaccias, croissants, pain au chocolat (or chocolatine :)), etc.
Which regulator to choose for your Safari Chef LP (Low Pressure) barbecue?
|
First of all, what is a regulator for?
The regulator guarantees optimal use of your gas bottle by regulating the pressure at its outlet, thus ensuring an optimal flow while safe.
Regulators are only necessary for the Low Pressure Safari Chef barbecue stoves only (LP Barbecue Stove).
It is essential to choose a regulator compatible with the gas bottle you plan to use, because each type of bottle requires a specific regulator.
3 regulators are compatible with the Safari Chef LP (Low Pressure) stoves and barbecues:
-
The regulator for EN417 allows low-pressure devices to work with EN417 screw-on gas cartridges. It easily screws onto a threaded gas cartridge or gas cartridges with a 7/16" EN417 universal connection.
-
The Campingaz Overflow regulator (8515-OF) allows you to connect your Safari Chef LP barbecue stove to a Campingaz gas bottle (Campingaz type 901 / 904 or 907).
-
The Universal Overflow regulator (8510-OF) allows low-pressure devices to work thanks to a universal connection with a 1/4” left-hand thread external thread connection.
Which gas bottle to choose for your barbecue?
|
The gas bottle must be chosen according to your needs.
It is essential to understand the different types of gas bottles, their availability in France and abroad, as well as to assess your planned gas consumption for your road trip.
- The bayonet cartridges (SSN-29) (designed for the Safari Chef Compact barbecue stove only), are compact and fit directly into the barbecue. Their small size makes them ideal for occasional meals during a road trip.
-
The bottles Campingaz are available in different sizes and are easy to find if you travel in France.
-
The cartridges EN417 are also available in different sizes and are easy to find in France and abroad.
-
The bottles universal are large gas bottles, very heavy and not very mobile, so not very suitable for camper vans (except for those who have done a specific conversion to power their vehicle with them).
The little extra for the LP (low pressure) barbecue stoves:
The quick coupling
|
Sometimes, a coupler is also necessary for your gas bottle.
But what exactly is it?
The coupler is a small part that is only used for the stove requiring the use of a regulator. It allows you to remove your regulator from the barbecue more easily.
When you prepare your meals outdoors with a Cadac gas barbecue, it is essential to have the right accessories to guarantee an easy and safe use.
The Cadac brand offers three types of couplers to meet your gas connection needs: the quick coupling, the elbow quick coupling, and the nipple.
-
The quick coupling : The quick coupling allows you to clip and unclip the gas supply hose to the barbecue. It works with a Push-Pull system. It is compatible only with the CampinGaz Overflow regulator (8515-OF) and the Universal Overflow regulator (8510-OF). (Connects only products equipped with a 1/4” European outlet and does not fit the ½ outlet).
Note: when used with the Safari Chef, the legs of this device can no longer be folded.
-
The elbow quick coupling : The quick coupling allows you to clip and unclip the gas supply hose to the barbecue.
-
Gas nipple with knob: The gas nipple makes it easier to unscrew the gas hose thanks to its blue knob. It is suitable for 1/4” left-hand thread. Don’t forget to use a hose clamp (included with the regulator) to properly secure the hose around the gas nipple.

- The 25cm pizza stone or the Pro 30cm pizza stone allow you to make delicious homemade pizzas during your road trips.
